My Experience in DkIT

Now, it time say goodbye. I have been here to study for 4 years;  in my final year, I was very happy to study in DKIT, I have met a lot of friend not only Chinese friend but Irish friend.

When I came to Ireland Just celebrated my 19 birthday, I was afraid everything and talk to person, but now with our friends and classmates, I was becoming more and more outgoing, I love study here. I joined a photograph social club, I met now friend and had a trip to with the social club classmates. This is my take picture form that trip.

In 2008, we also had a school trip to France;   I went to Bordeaux to visit winery, and we stay in Paris for a week that is unforgotten time in my life.

When I was second student, we had internship with Crown Plaza, this place I am working for 3years already, for this, it is a good opportunity to practice my service skills and communication skills.   

In short, I have wonderful time in my life, after graduations, I will come back to China, I will never   will forget this study abroad experience in my life!!!!

E-commerce Taobao in China

E-commerce is often thought simply to refer to buying and selling usi the internet.

In China, the biggest is e-commerce company named Taobao.Taobao is a shopping marketplace for consumers in China. Founded by parent Alibaba Group, it facilitates transactions between individual consumers and a wide range of sellers such as retailers, wholesalers, and other individuals. Similar to eBay, sellers are able to post new and used goods for sale on the Taobao marketplace either through a fixed price or negotiated sale or by auction.

Primary competitors include eBay, Amazon, paipai, yet reports have shown that Taobao has over 65% of the auction market and is growing.

Taobao is public area provide people buying or selling online. Taobao, China’s largest consumer e-commerce company, today announced that its parent company, Alibaba Group, will invest RMB5 billion (US$732 million) over the next five years to further strengthen the Taobao marketplace (www.taobao.com) as the shopping destination of choice for Chinese consumers. The investment will be used for building a world-leading platform for merchants and providing the best online shopping experience for consumers. In addition, Taobao will continue to offer its services for free to buyers and individual sellers.

Now taobao is going abroad, taobao Japan was just launched, Alipay  is actively expanding globally.

E-commerce has a lot of benefit, increasing sale from new leads giving rise to increased revenue from new customer and new marketing, reduce time customer service, reduced distribution cost of marketing communication. In e-commerce image communication is becoming more important to attract more people to buy your product. Faster product development lifecycle enabling faster response to market need. Meeting customer expectations to have a website indentified new partners, supporting existing partners better.

Censorship on the Web

According to Article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression. “This right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers,” the declaration said.

Free speech may be expressed through the mass media, internet, and people through internet to express what they want to say, but sometime some expressions are harmful to government, in China, the internet censorship is conducted under a Variety of law and administrative regulations, but there are no specific laws with the censorship follows.

In china you can publish free speech, but it is not to harmful the government, there are 2 things if you relevant, your free speech will be banned.

1.  government illegal administrative whether for true condition. If not true, no doubt. Although our country's reputation in infringement laws about it did not make clear a regulation, but this kind of irresponsible words will be deleted.
2. have extremist rhetoric on the BBS, this is the vents, after all, are now allowed in advocating freedom of speech. But don't have extremist rhetoric. Although the United States some western countries's comments very free, but if you in their BBS said some "capitalist system is rotten" or "only socialism can save America," is never allowed.

Web Usability

Most visitors use a search engine to find site which what they want to find. A clearly site and content easy to read is more attracting visitor to use your site.

Hotel web page provides more information to guests, Homepage of hotel can shows what service hotel provided and facilities hotel have. E.g. I think Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk have a good homepage. Homepage is face to world and starting point for most user visits.

In the homepage, the designer use red color as main background color, and image is attract me, and the content is easy to find, there are home page, hotel location page, wedding  and event page , conference venue page, special offer page, content are purposeful and have a beginning, middle and end, Each page expose the full detail about the hotel. The content is readable and understandable.

If your want to research Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk in the search engine, it must have window title with good visibility is search engine.   If you type Dundalk Hotel, conference Dundalk, Crowne Plaza and Dundalk, all the title you can find this Hotel.

In the web page, hotel link a lot of name with the most important keyword, Key word is easy to find what you want to find, when they start each link with a relevant word， it is easy for scanning for eye to differentiate it from other links on page.

Home page Include a site search box helps visitors quickly locate the information they want. Make the search box prominent and be sure that it searches your entire site.

Support your brand, a good brand creates or reinforces a user's impression of the site. When your site is strongly branded, that means that visitors will think of you first when they go shopping for your product or service.

Good home page is not a first impression of organization, sometime they can add more value of your organization.

Web Standards

What is a Web standard?

Web Standard provide guidance to people have access to the information online, and make web development fast and more enjoyable. Some standard Company make standard easy to some special people. Blind people may have computer can read web page to them, for the poor eyesight may have pages rearranged or magnified for easy to read.

When people develop web standard, it is should development is simplified. Using Web standards will help people ensure that all brewers will display Web site properly. Web Page that follows to the standard is easier for search engines to access and index, easier to change to other format.

W3C?

Tim Berners-Lee’ invented World Wide Web; The World Wide Web is a common space users can information to work together, it is founded in 1994, the W3C have more than 450 member organization.

Accessibility

Web standards can give web page greater visibility in the web searches. It is make both server and client to understand the structure of document. Compliant documents can easily be converted to other format; this is allowed for more versatile use of the information within documents on the World Wide Web.

HTML is important in web standards; disable people can use the web, Blind people can use computers that read Web pages for them. People with poor sight can rearrange and magnify standard Web pages. Simple Web standards like HTML 4 and CSS will make your Web pages much easier to understand by special devices.

Web standards helps make the content accessible to a wider range of users, including those with disabilities, poor vision, older users, and those without the software or hardware to fully view all your website content. With the markup code being cleaner (XHTML, XML, etc), specialized devices for visually impaired users can read out the content. This also allows users to customize pages to their needs using style switches and provides a printer-friendly version of Web pages.

Technology Fast !!!

With time goes by, technology is becoming more and more significant to people's life.  Our CA has required us to give up Phone, Email and Internet for 3days, which sounds very unbelievable.

Mobile phone, Email and Internet is indispensable parts of our life.

Mobile phone is easy to connect with each other and text a message, it is very convent. And nowadays, mobile phones are changed quickly; Smart phone is instean of tradition mobile phone, Smart Phones are advanced phones with computer-like functionality such as the ability to browse the internet.

Without mobile phone, I didn't connect with my family. Every Monday, I have a phone call with my family. But this assignment asked us turn off for 3 days; I turned off my Phone and left it at home. I forgot to make a phone call to my family. After 3 days, I turned on my phone, 16 messages from my family and friend. They said: what wrong with you. Turn off your phone. Give me call when you turn on your phone, and so on. So I think mobile phone is so important to us.

E-mail is to exchange digital message on line, during those 3 days, we had a group works with other classmates, we were not live together, I written report on the world, but I found I couldn't use the E-mail to my classmates, I written on the paper, and next day, passed to my group members. I am never realized, E-mail is convenient  to pass the message.

This technology fast was important to me, technology is changed fast that people' s life is becoming more colorful, but is also bring disadvantage for people's life, internet distance a person from his friend, because people lack of adequate face to face communication with their peers.

Internet is very important to our international student, we via internet to read news in China, and talk to family via QQ (is the most popular free instant messaging computer program in Mainland China.) and watch movie online and so on, from those 3 days, I haven't go to internet, just opened the computer to listen to music and play game. And I found I talk to my friend more than usually.

Children

Some feel that the children of low income families are better equipped to deal with difficulties posed by the “real world” when they grow up and they also believe the privileged children of wealthy families are less fit to deal with these difficulties.The implications and veracity of this argument seem self-evident,but in fact require closer examination.
The popular wisdom is that children of poorer families learn early on the value of a buck ,and are thus naturally better suited to stretching money when times get tough in adulthood. Inversely, the children of wealthy families,thoseborn with a silver spoon in their mouths,are believed to be completely ignorant of the tentimes erroneously expecting the same situation in adulthood.They are believed to be prone to overspending and financial irresponsibility. This belief,though logical,overlooks one key point which is,of course,education.
The basis of this argument is,of course,knowing the value of money ,and the idea that children of the poor know this,and those of the wealthy do not.Who though,is in a better position to teach their children the value of money,someone skilled in earning and keeping it,the wealthy parent,or someone who can not seem to acquire it,the poor parent? Both wealthy and poor children are equally likely to acquire an education in money,whether it is formal,or in the school of hard knocks. Conversely, both children are as likely to ignore this education.
A poor child may believe that one can get along,if not as easily,without wealthy.A wealthy child may be well trained by a parent steeped in the knowledge of money management,the key to developing this skill is education.

Social Media in OUR Life

Traditional media, such as Tv, newspapers,radio,and magaizine. but nowadays social media is becoming more and more important to ours life.

New web technologies have mede it easy for anyone to create, it is most important and to distribute their own content. a blog post, tweet.or YouTube can be produced and viewed by millons virtually for free.

social media comes in many form, but there are 8 most popular socail media: blogs, microbolgs(twitter),social networks(facebook，Linkedin），media sharing site （Youtube ) social bookmaking and voting sites（Digg，Reddit)， review site（Yelp),forums and virtual worlds.

Blog is a type of content management system that makes it easy for anyone to publish short  articles called  Post. Blogs make great bubs for your other social media markting effort.

Microblogging is a form of blogging that limits the size of each post, Twitter updates can contain only 140 characters.Twitter started to take off in termod popularity in the first half of 2009 as a result of high-profle celebrity members and a mention on Oprah.

facebook is the world's largest social network, announced in July 2010 that it had 500 million users around the world. The company has grown at a meteoric pace, doubling in size since 2009 and pushing international competitors aside. Its policies, more than those of any other company, are helping to define standards for privacy in the Internet age.

About My media type !

-Internet  more than 3 hours per day
-newspaper less than 1 hours per day
-radio 1hour per day
-Tv    30minute per day
-mobile phone 3hours per day

As a international student, I always spend more than 3hours on internet per day, I talk to my friends  via QQ, if I have no class at college, My QQ will online 10 hours, We have renren  which are same as facebook, we
share some interesting things on Renren, I sepnd 1 hour to read online newspaper and watch some moives.
In Ireland, Sending less than 1hours to read newspaper, beacuse of all the news are written by English, it is difficult to read. Sometimes, I will listen to the radio, it can inprove my listening skill and finding a new song.
TV have China channel, everyday take 30minute to look at china News.
I litensing to the radio, because I want to find a new songs.

Ireland weather

The usual way to tell the difference between winter and summer in Ireland is to measure the temperature of the rain ... or so the saying goes. While it is true that there are no major temperature differences between the seasons and that rain is likely every second day, the Irish weather is manageable.

Temperatures will rarely go below 32°F and only occasionally above 68°F - with June, July and August being the warmest months, January and February the coldest. Extremes are not unknown though. The summer of 2006 was the hottest on record for ages. On the other hand rare freezing spells tend to bring the country to a grinding halt and even a sprinkling of snow will have most drivers panicking.
